Summary

Tunze's classic single-axis propeller pump — DC-controllable, low-profile, and quiet enough for a living-room tank. The 6075's adjustable flow range (2,600-7,500 L/h) covers nano through medium reef. Atlantis runs one across the back wall to create the return-side gyre that keeps detritus suspended for the skimmer to grab.

★ Atlantis verdict

"Runs in the back-left corner at 40%, set on a 4-hour gyre schedule via the Apex. Quiet enough that the TV speaker drowns it out at 6 feet."

What sells it / What holds it back

Pros
Genuine DC control — silent at 30%, scaled-up power at 100%
Magnet mount holds firmly on 15mm glass — won't slip mid-flow
Tunze parts available for 10+ years — propeller swap is a 2-minute job
Compact footprint — won't dominate the in-tank aesthetic
Cons
Controller (7096 or 7097) sold separately if you want scheduling
Single-axis propeller — narrower flow stream than a vortech-style gyre pump
Premium price vs Jebao RW-4 equivalents (but lasts 3-5× longer)

What's in the box

  • Pump body
  • Magnet mount (both halves)
  • DC power cable
  • PSU brick

Setup & dial-in

1
Step 1: Test magnet pull on dry glass before submerging — should hold firmly with 1-finger resistance.
2
Step 2: Aim ACROSS the tank (creates gyre), not INTO the rock (creates dead-spot in front + sand storm behind).
3
Step 3: Start at 40-50% DC, observe coral polyp behavior for 1 week before increasing.
4
Step 4: With Apex/Multicontroller — pulse mode (8-12s on/off) is gentler on corals than constant flow.
5
GOTCHA: Position so the cable exits CLEANLY behind the tank, not pinched against the glass. Pinched cables crack at the strain relief over months.

Maintenance schedule

every 6 weeks
Clean propeller chamber
quarterly
Soak in vinegar (calcium)
annually
Replace propeller
monthly
Check magnet mount
