A brand-new Red Sea Reefer 625 G2+ build being set up as a future SPS-dominant reef, aquascaped with Carib Sea Life Rock and special grade sand plus custom TSA rock structures. Nutrient export leans on a Red Sea ReefMat 1200 roller mat, with the Reefer 600 skimmer held in reserve. At this stage corals (torches/euphyllia) and fish are still holding in a tub while the tank is scaped and prepped for water.

Protocols & Practices

  • Running Red Sea ReefMat 1200 roller mat as primary nutrient export instead of skimmer early on
  • Plans to delay running skimmer for the first couple months of the tank's life
  • Aquascaped with all Carib Sea Life Rock and special grade sand
  • Used thin super glue plus sand-and-accelerator method to tack rock together
  • Plans to reinforce and blend rock seams with E-Marco mortar kit
  • Will epoxy base structures to glass so rocks can't slip and break glass
  • Building open scape expecting SPS to grow over and become the aquascape
