Bangkok ambient hits 32°C in summer and stays above 28°C through monsoon season. Without a chiller, this tank would be cooking corals five months a year. The Hailea HS-66A holds 25–26°C effortlessly even when the room is in the low 30s, and the units are quiet enough to live with in a small apartment.
The decision to keep a second HS-66A in reserve was deliberate — a chiller failure in this climate is a tank-killer, and replacement units have lead times. Spare equipment is cheap insurance.
